Technology Standard IV
Technology Standard IV: All teachers communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.
PowerPoint is always good to help convey larger, organized amounts of information to students, even just game rules that need to stay available during a class period. Students tend to enjoy any Prezi presentations as they are quirky when you move from one group of information to the next. On our campus, we have Smart Boards for all Kindergarten and 1st grade classes, as well as our 6th grade math class. I have enjoyed using the Smart Boards when I have had the opportunity. It is often unique to students, it's interactive which always resonates with students, and it offers me the option to keep exact, real-time notes on what my students and I discuss during a lesson. Websites, class Facebook pages, school Twitter feeds, blogs, Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Publisher documents, and videos are all different ways to reach and share information with my students, their families, my colleagues, district personnel, invested community members, and the world at large. I know there are many more technological options out there for me to use to communicate with the various audiences who have a need for my information. I'm just scratching the surface right now. I pledge to continue my learning of other technological formats so that I will be better equipped to spread the learning that's occurring in my classroom, including my own!
